The World Financial Crisis
A few people really messed things up. Those few and the regulators who didn't watch them and the governments that allowed it to happen need to be accountable. Like most everyone, I saw considerable thousands of dollars evaporate. For years I've been on comfortable aggressive profile cruise control and with that mindset I frittered away the hours. But within that posture I do have trading knowledge in the sense that I have been involved in futures before and if you've ever traded them, even the options part you have to be very aware. So after a few bad days my bottom limit was reached and I parked. Now the common advice is to stay in the market. Unfortunately these are not common times. Therefore I'm sitting the sidelines till I feel the time is right. Right now is a good time for calls and puts but morally it's really not a good time to short the market and in most cases you can't do it anyway. The whole world needs to recover.
